This Citroen idiot thinks that continental cars can park outside the lot, but fails to realise in Singapore you get your picture in the Parking Idiots blog for doing that. Smile, fool, you are on PI camera!

This weekend idiot has an inferiority complex. He feels his car is so tiny that it's a motorbike. So he goes and parks it in a motorcycle lot (you can't really see from this angle, but his left side is on the bike lots). There are soooo many empty carpark lots around the carpark - you can even see in the picture - but this fool has to deprive the bikers of their designated lots.

168. Contributed by JY:

This is another idiot who thinks he's a pilot, needs the white line as a guide to parking. So, this fool uses the white line to great effect, parking smack in the centre of 2 lots. Wondering where he got his driving .. I mean, pilot's licence.

This idiot needed a huge parking space as he did not have the skill or confidence in parking properly like other normal drivers. I pity the fool.

Another idiot challenged by a parking lot, and losing badly. Such a small car, one would think any idiot could park properly - but not this idiot. He prefers to be an inconsiderate jerk and leave the car occupying 2 lots.

Taken at Sunctec City on 21 April 2006 at about 9:00pm

165. Contributed by Sue:

There are 2 idiots in this picture - one a car that encroaches into the next lot slightly, but enough to give trouble for the next driver. And another idiot - the huge truck, that seems to be making a delivery - by blocking the whole driveway! What was he thinking - when there was a proper lot he could have easily parked in. Totally inconsiderate!

It's time to give the idiot cars a break, and take a look at 2 wheeled idiots. Here's is an idiot biker who can't afford a car, but still wants to park on a car park lot. Perhaps, he should volunteer to cough up $90 a month for an MSCP car season parking coupon, before continuing this foolish behaviour. Seem's this nutter has been depriving cars of this lot for months now.

And even on such a big lot, this idiot still can't park in the centre but does it on the line - just as most bikers ride on the lane dividers on the road. Must be some fetish about bikers and white lines on the road...

This idiot Beemer driver thinks cars parking on the left will only be tiny Kanchils; that's why he parked too far to the left and took up part of the next lot's space. He might as well have parallel parke on the 2 lots, since nobody else could park there anyway, with him being so inconsiderate.

Taken at Blk 448A MSCP Sin Ming Ave on 21 Apr 2006.

See this selfish idiot parked so comfortably between the handicap lot and the walkway? Well, it's actually a No Parking spot, because that's where the ramp is for the disabled to use. So this moron, by parking here for his own convenience, is effectively blocking the use of the ramp and the handicap lot. Seems that this nutjob has been doing this pretty frequently. I recommend for the contributor to call the Traffic Offence hotline.

158. Contributed by Clarke:

This one is the biggest idiot on the blog so far... huge trailer truck, parked like a blithering idiot along a fast 70kph busy road just after a bend, forcing other drivers to swerve or change lanes suddenly. Contributor sent a copy of the pic to the TP. Hope this trailer driver learns a hard lesson.

Here's an idiot SUV (yet another SUV) that thinks it's perfectly alright to stop on the double-yellow line of a narrow and busy road, and leave his car whilst he takes his time to run errands. The photographer waited more than 10mins to see who came to drive off - but no one did. If the idiot wanted to leave his car there for some time, at least he could have been considerate and parked in the adjacent lane, and not block the main road. Typical Class 1 Sotong idiot.

Yet another Hyundai with little knowledge or skills in parking, automatically qualifying as an Idiot Parker. And the next car, the blue Mitsubishi also becomes an accomplice idiot by following the first idiot. Our photographer manages to stick a Parking Idiot label on the Hyundai idiot.

These bike lots seem to be very popular with SUVs... this is the same set of bike lots previously parked on by another idiot SUV in Photo 091. Yet another inconsiderate disabled lot hogger! I would like to advise all those able-bodied drivers without any handicap label on your car, to park in a regular lot - lest your car's photo be displayed here. Worse, get a $400 summons from HDB/URA for illegally parking in a disabled lot. Remember, they are also monitoring this blog - and they know where you live!!

Here's another idiot dicing with danger. He's got the first lot on the set of carpark lots. This should allow any normal driver to parallel park easily and neatly, within the lot. But not this moron, he prefers to do it the hard way. From the angle of the photo, you can't really see, but the car is parked at an angle, and the ass is way on the road.

This is another idiot who does not like to park fully in the lot, but prefers to leave his ass hanging out. The problem with this is for the next lot's driver, who also has to reverse out, will have a problem turning his car to the left to leave the lot. So the idiot's inconsiderate behaviour will cause problems for others.

This idiot Toyota Vios driver has the gall to just leave his car on the road, without bothering to park in a lot; and there are many empty lots available. This super Idiot prefers to just park in front of the sheltered drop off point and save a few steps of walking for his own convenience, but to the great inconvenience of everybody else. And he has been parking overnight like this on numerous occasions, too! This kind of moron deserves his car to be towed away.

Yet another Lexus idiot. Ok, I understand this carpark was designed in the horse and carriage days before big cars became common in Singapore, and therefore the lots are small - but this is ridiculous. Shows pure laziness on the Lexus driver's part in not making any effort to park properly at all.

Here's another cuckoo-brained BMW driver. New car, so he prefers not to get it dented at the back, but leaves the front out of the car park lot far enough that any passing vehicle can crash into it. The TP should review their driving test passing standards - this blog is definately showing a serious lapse in the parking skills of many drivers.

I despise those able bodied persons that occupy disabled parking lots for their own convenience, thus depriving of an actual disabled people of their allocated spaces. Here is yet another example of such a Parking Idiot, incredibly lazy to walk just a few metres from normal parking lots, but prefers to hog a disabled person's lot near the lift lobby. And there is an actual disabled person who would park here, if not for this moron. The photographer had also signalled her displeasure by leaving a note on the idiot's windscreen.

This series of pictures is different from our usual contributions. This is not the fault of the drivers this time, but of the authorities to whom we pay $$ each month for parking; authorities who have failed to provide a safe place for the incredibly expensive motor vehicles of Singapore, even though they happily take the money to provide the parking space.

I wonder if the poor drivers now have to bear the costs for this disaster to their vehicles, as most insurance companies do not cover damage by "acts of God" even though the fault lies in the poor design of the carpark, with an inadequate or poorly designed drainage system.

Seems that this is not the first time flooding, but has happened several times in a year, with the latest on Good Friday 14 April, and Monday, 16 April 2006

This new black Beemer driver is too rich. He can afford a new car, and also can afford for it to get dented soon after buying. Looking at the way it is parked so near the other car, I would not be suprised if the idiot's BMW got a few dings when the other car driver came to drive off. I know some of you would think this one is borderline. And I have previously rejected such photos of cars parked just on the line of their lot as I felt, though poor parking, it was forgiveable as one can't be perfect. But, come on, look at this blue Toyota Vios idiot - yes, the wheels are on the edge of the line, but the side mirror has extended well into the other lot. How can the next car possibly park properly due to this idiot's actions?

And, it's not as if this Vios idiot was forced to park like this by another car - the other side of the Vios is just a kerb, and lots of space. So it is just pure foolish, lazy and inconsiderate behaviour that leads to such idiotic parking.

Why don't you readers give your verdict on this one. I think I am going to review such borderline parking more stringently in future.

I don't get this kind of parking. There is obviously enough space beside the wall for this cab to park properly within the lot. Even if he was nervous about the wall, he could have parked properly in the next lot without any worry. By parking like this, he is simply being idle and just asking to be called an idiot. So we oblige: another Parking Idiot, duh!

This one is a Supreme Idiot of the Sotong Class Order of deMerit. There was line of cars already occupying one side of the road, leaving one lane clear. This Idiot Parker (note: it's another SUV) had the gall to park in that one lane and leave! Of course, very soon, there was a tailback of cars stuck behind, waiting for this idiot to leave. All those people standing behind were the other drivers, mainly cabbies, who had gotten out of their cars to curse! What a brainless, inconsiderate idiot.

I'll reserve judgment on this photo. This Mitsubishi Colt driver felt that it is better to park on a pavement, rather than in the driveway of the house. True - it is not really blocking traffic, the way it is parked, but it is blocking pedestrians from walking on the pavement. Any comments from the readers?

The 3 stooges: a Hyundai, a Nissan and a Merc Vito. I suspect these drivers have claustrophobia. They seem to have an irrational fear of parking within the confines of their own lot - they need to expand their parking space onto the next lot as well to feel secure. What idiots!

Ok, to be fair, I wouldn't totally blame this driver - as there is also another idiot on the right that is squeezing this SUV - but the length of the vertical parking lot shows that there is space to park properly within the lot, IF he bothered to make the effort. So, this SUV can be considered at least a Prawn Class Idiot.

Century Mark!

100 photos! The previous post shows the 100th Parking Idiot Photo on this blog! That is a milestone! Though, not really of good tidings, as it means there are at least a hundred idiots out there who are challenged in parking skills.

I have received much feedback through emails, the comments sections of the blog and also from the various car forums. I have implemented some of the suggestions which I concurred were a good idea, such as displaying the number plates, having Parking Idiot labels for people to print and stick on the cars, sieving out the marginal idiotic photos and only display the ones who cross the line, etc.

There are many supporters of this blog, judging from the many contributions that I have received and the various supportive feedback. And some detractors - who either feel I am being petty doing this, or that some of the photos posted are not really that bad (perhaps their cars were featured and they are feeling sore about it!! ha! ha!)

There was a suggestion to inform the authorities to visit this blog to get evidence to fine the illegal parkers. Heh! Heh! I thought that was a rather good idea, and I have written in to TP, HDB and URA to let them know. So far, TP have replied and thanked me for the suggestion (though I am not sure whether they will actually use the photos - but, we can always hope!)

A couple of readers had asked the HDB if such photos displayed on the blog were submissible as evidence, and were informed that it was possible, but if the offender were to contest the charge, the complainant had to be prepared to testify in court. Well, I hope the readers will do the right thing and not be afraid to carry out their civic responsibilities. The HDB officer concerned had also visited the blog, and had been impressed with the blog!

There was a suggestion to list the authorities hotlines to call when we witness illegal parking. I have implemented that as well:
Traffic Police Hotline: 1800 547 1818
HDB Carpark Hotline: 1800 272 1409
URA Carpark Hotline: 6329 3434

I have also displayed these numbers on the right side bar for easy reference.

Finally, there was also a request for a less wordy Parking Idiot label that may have greater impact. I have prepared one, based on the previous design by Parking Idiot Fan. Hope you find this useful:

It is also found under the Parking Idiot Labels link on the right side bar (Label 3).

So, let's get out there, stick these labels on and catch these idiots on camera!!

Ah, another one of the world's most difficult-to-park vehicles: the SUV. This must be what the idiot driver of this Toyota thinks - 'cos he is so satisfied to park like a moron and leave. Clearly the car on the left is also forced to park away, due to this idiot SUV driver's action.

This is a weird scenario. Looks like a busy carpark with lots of parking idiots around. Sotong Class 1A idiot.

Saw this truck parked like a nut on a handicapped lot at 1:00am, took the photo on the left. Came back at 1:45pm the next afternoon - saw the same truck parked at exactly the same angle at the same spot. Took the photo on the right. This one truly an Idiot Sotong Class awardee. Wonder where he got his driving licence, probably at a back street in Geylang. How can a reasonably sane person even stop a car at a place like this and just walk away? This Idiot Parker parked his car at the carpark exit, blocking the entry and exit to the carpark as well as the pedestrian footpath. A car that was turning into the carpark had to stop and reverse back onto the road, so that another car that was trying to exit could get out. This idiot had parked there for at least one and a half hours.

Parking Offences

One of our regular readers, Michael Chua, has recently written in to the ST Forum, asking for authorities to fine Idiot Parkers, who park inconsiderately, occupying more than 1 lot and are a hazard and inconvenience to other drivers.

You can read the full article here:
Fine those who don't park their cars properly in parking lots
(March 31, 2006)

Today, the authorities have replied to Michael's letter, in the Today paper, saying that they have indeed summoned 790 drivers in the past 3 months.

You can read their full reply here:
790 parking offence notices issued in 3 months
(April 6, 2006)

At least we can take heart the authorities are doing something about these Idiot Parkers. We can also do our bit to shame these clowns by continuing our posting of their photos on this blog. It serves as a deterrent to other wannabe Idiots, not to commit the same mistakes.

Parking Idiot Labels

April has been a busy month for the blog. Only 5 days in, and I have received many photos of Parking Idiots. Seems like these idiots have not yet learned their lesson. Oh, well, they asked for it!

I have had to forgo posting some photos up, as whilst their parking was pretty screwed up, those cars were still within the lot; so technically not wrong. We need to be flexible, as we aren't perfect; so I hope that the contributors understand. We hope that all drivers will park properly within their carpark lots, but if you can't even park within the lot or are a road hazard, then you are fair game to be displayed on this site. Do keep sending the photos in.

A reader, Miss ene, came up with a great idea to provide easy access to the parking idiot labels. Thus, for those of you who would like to have some parking idiot labels handy to stick on these "idiotic parkers" (also coined by Miss ene), you can click on the Parking Idiot Labels links on the right side bar, and print them. No copyright issues - you can print and distribute to your heart's content.
