This is one of those photos that make you go: "What the ....!"

Kudos to the contributor for these magnificent photos. What the heck is this idiot thinking of, parking like this? Does he own the whole building, to make this walkway his personal car porch?

And whatever inconsiderate attitude he has - you gotta hand it to him, he has excellent parking skills to squeeze this car into this tiny passageway without scratching it - i think only a couple of inches of clearance on each side! Amazing!!

This is probably a common sight in private estates, but it does not make the driver of this van any less of an idiot - for blocking the road during a busy peak paeriod, obstructing pedestrians from using the walkway, and forcing them into danger by having them walk around the van.

Here are a couple of supremely inconsiderate idiots. Parked along a busy road at peak hours, blocking traffic from using the filter lane, causing an obstruction and massive jam. They think that leaving the hazard lights on whilst they go about their business excuses their idiocy. A traffic cop should give them a note to teach them otherwise. Too bad the car in front was not identified... at least we got the idiot Tuscany.

The photo was taken by a biker, who had to wait nearly an hour, whilst repeatedly sounding his horn - but the idiot Honda driver did not bother to move his car. This kind of moron should be towed away.

Statistics

I think this blog has progressed to the stage where it needs it's own logo! I've designed one here; what do you all think? I would also love some better suggestions, if you think this is not good (I'm not really a graphic design artist).

I've also got a couple of charts up. These two are for idiots charted by marque and by type. I'll update them every now and then. These two charts are not yet complete, as I have only started keeping track of the stats since the last hundred and fifty or so. Let me know if there are any other stats you would like to see.

This silver SUV, driven by an idiot driver who knows nuts about parking, has encroached on the next lot, forcing the next driver to follow suit and park like an idiot as well. Fortunately, the space next to the other driver is dead space, thus saving more drivers from the SUV's folly.

Another bigshot Lexus which is too big for 1 car lot. Maybe LTA should issue new guidelines on creating carpark lots, where the new width allows cars to park parallel in vertical parking lots. After all, nearly 300 idiots so far show that they are unable to park within a normal parking lot.

Thanks for Contributing

I would like to register my thanks to everyone for their continued support of this blog. Including the detractors. I have read the often hilarious comments these guys make, including the threats and other rethoric about how bad this blog is, etc. Thanks, guys... really funny.. you make my day...

There's even been some suggestions for the authorities to check out illegal and idiotic parking. And seems that a major spot is the Old Airport Road Hawker Centre. This was sent to me by a reader called Amanda (thanks!). She claims that lunch and dinner periods are the best time to catch these idiots in action, along the narrow service road to the carpark, near blocks 47 and 49 and even at the disability parking spaces.

And here's a funny picture from another reader, Parkwell (thanks, dude!). Seems like an appropriate parking space for our usual bunch of idiots:

2 idiots in a single photo. This Malaysian driver must be oblivious to Singapore traffic laws; he's cooly parked his car smack in front of a bus stop and left it there. What an idiot! Should not be driving on Singapore roads if he does not know the rules. The idiot motorcyclist is just as bad, parked under shelter of the bus-stop, and occupying the space meant for pedestrians and commuters. Not only selfish, but dangerous. Both deserve some fines from the authorities.

Normally I would consider such parking as borderline idiocy, and not post them. But this idiot has parked like this next to a lot that is beside a wall. Such "next-to-wall" lots are difficult to park in, in any case, without idiots like this making it worse. This is an amazing photo. The idiot in this case is the Lexus - as you can see by the lighter area on the bottom middle of the photo, he has parked out of his lot into the next lot. The gutsy Hyundai driver deliberately parked very close to the Lexus, undeterred at all, and well within his own lot (in fact, as you can see from the red circle, he is so close that his side mirror is overlapping the Lexus's). I hope the Lexus driver learned a good lesson in parking - I wonder how he managed to exit the carpark without damaging either car!!!

This is an unusual case compared to our usual bunch of idiots. Here is a road where illegal and inconsiderate parking is abound. All manner of trucks, prime movers, trailers are parked on both sides of the road througout the day. The road is a dual-carriageway divided by a single unbroken white line in the middle. This clearly means that there should be no parking on either side of the road. So this means that this is blatantly illegal parking.

Illegal parking aside, the manner in which all these huge vehicles are parked on both sides of the street cause continuous obstructions and road hazards to other road users. The contributor sent many photos, of which I picked just four to display.

I guess many of us may not understand the problems faced by the regular users of this stretch of road, where they have to navigate carefully through this long obstacle course, whilst driving against traffic along the middle of the road. The traffic police should take a closer look at this road - they could probably fill their monthly quota in a single sweep.

Parking Idiots in the News

Ok, time to brag a bit. Seems that this blog is getting some media coverage around the world.

You read the first newspaper article a few months ago in Today paper, by Mr Miyagi.

Then we were mentioned a few days ago in The New Paper.

Now, the news has spread to Europe!

We are featured in 2 mobile phone related web sites: Forbruker and Amobil. Well, the articles there are in Norwegian, so I can't really understand what they have written, (I just hope they are saying good things about this site! Ha! Ha! ...erm.. can anybody translate Norwegian?)

RSS/XML Feeds

There have been several requests for me to set up feeds to this blog, such as RSS.

At first, I did not know how to go about it. But after some tips from friendly readers, and some reading up on the web, I have managed to do it. You learn something new everyday!

Ok.. you can see the Feed link on the right navbar with a cute little orange icon , pointing to Parking Idiots in Singapore feed.

So all those who like Feeds - please go ahead and subscribe to this feed! Have fun!

Submission Guidelines

Guidelines on the submission of photos

1. Please email all photos as attachments to parkingidiot@gmail.com.

2. In your email, please include your return email address, so that I can acknowledge your submission, or inform you if the submission is not suitable for posting. I acknowledge all submissions, whether or not they are published.

3. If you do not wish to be identified by your own name, please include a nickname or pseudonym for me to use. If I do not get any indication of how you want to be addressed as a contributor, I shall use your initials or the most appropriate description available.

4. All photos must be clear enough to identify the offending vehicle, including the number plate. If you are unable to get the number plate in the picture, I would recommend taking more photos at different angles so that you can get the number plate in at least one of the photos. Submissions where the photos are unable to identify the vehicle, usually get rejected. Only some get published on a case by case basis - and must still include the car plate number. If you can't identify them, there's not much point in publishing them, is there?

5. All photos must clearly depict idiotic parking. What is idiotic parking?
- Any vehicle parking in a lot designated for something else - eg. cars/trucks parking on motorcyle lots, motorcycles parking on car lots, etc.
- Unauthorised parking on disability parking spaces.
- Vertical parking on horizontal lots and vice versa.
- Parking on more than 1 lot; parking over the boundary of a designated lot.
- Inconsiderate parking; blocking other traffic or pedestrians; parking onto the roads.
- Other such silly parking, not already mentioned.

6. Idiotic Parking does not necessarily mean illegal parking. We are not too concerned about purely illegal parking, as the authorities in Singapore are very capable of meting out justice to such drivers. However, where idiotic parking coincides with illegal parking, by all means, please submit your photos.

7. If you can provide a short description about the idiotic parking, this may be incorporated in my posting as deemed appropriate.

8. If you have photos on your mobile phone that you wish to SMS/MMS, please upload to a website like www.moblog.com.sg, which accepts SMS/MMS uploads, and then send me the link to the uploaded photo, with the various descriptions as required above. I am unable to receive SMS/MMS directly for now.

9. If you have a video clip, please upload to a video hosting site like youtube.com, and send me the link, with the various descriptions as required above.

10. Please assist to place a Parking Idiot flyer (you can download and print them from the links provided on the right margin of the blog) on the offending car. If you can include a picture of the flyer on the car, this will be most welcome. We want to let the idiot driver know that he's been caught on camera, and want him to come on to the blog and see and experience the shame of notoriety - so that he'll hopefully learn from his mistake.

11. Photos will be published on a first come, first served basis. Due to various reasons, publishing of photos may not be immediately upon receipt of the submission. Please be patient and watch the blog for updates. I shall definately inform you if your photo is published, or not (provided the return email address you give is valid).

12. If you have any further queries about photo submission, please email to me at parkingidiot@gmail.com, and I'll try my best to assist.

Happy phototaking!!

What can we say about this kind of monster truck parking at parking spaces designed for cars? It is obvious that they are too big for this kind of parking lot, and are not supposed to park here anyway. This driver is not only an idiot in parking, he is also a menace to all around. Look at how he has parked onto the ramp. An abosolute danger to everyone around - probably had a few too many.

Ooh, what an absolute idiot!! Where in the world did he pass his driving? Probably bought the license at Sungei Road. I think he even forced the next car to park out of the lot as well.

Here is an aboslutely lazy driver. Car park lots are available, but this super idiot chooses to deprive motorcyclists of their rightful lots. How would he feel if a motorcyclist were to deprive him of a car park lot?

Thanks for the welcome!

Wow.. I have received so many letters welcoming me back! Thanks, everyone, for the support and the interest in the site! There have been several contributions already. I am now putting up the photos.

I have even received an email from an international site that features Idiots parking on disability parking spaces (my pet peeve). Caughtya.org is dedicated to shaming those idiots who have no consideration whatsoever for the disabled and mobility impaired by parking in their lots. I have placed a link to this site on my links section on the right navigation bar. Check it out!

A gentle reminder to all the contributors to Parking Idiots. We are looking for cars that have been parked inconsiderately, and causing obstruction to other road users (ie. parked on double lots, blocking traffic or pedestrians, parking on disability parking spaces, etc.) We are not necessarily looking for illegal parking, as I feel the authorities are more than capable of handing out summons for these.. ha! ha! If the illegal parking coincides with inconsiderate parking - by all means send the photos in! We'll publish them.

Also, please try to take the photo demonstrating how the car is actually being parked inconsiderately, otherwise readers will be wondering why the photo is being displayed. We want to be fair as possible, and not publish those borderline cases.

And importantly, we need the number plate to be seen - otherwise, there is little point in displaying the car - as no one would be able to identify the idiot, and he gets away.

A small write up with the date and location of the incident would make the post more interesting. I give due credit to the contributors, but those who are shy may want to use a nickname to be identified with. I respect your privacy and shall comply with such wishes.

Beautiful car. Idiotic driver. Obviously failed to pass his parking test, but somehow obtained a license. Should own up to his deficiency and relearn parking.

SUV story. Big assed Hyundai driver does not know the meaning of parking. Since it's an SUV, should have gone on and parked on the grass for all he knows about parking properly. In fact, the little piece of paper on the windscreen is a "summons" from an irate person who was obviously not amused with this idiot's parking. Moreover, he has been issued an official parking summons from the parking attendent as well!! Justice is served!

This idiot Renault has absolutely no consideration for others, especially at a crowded old carpark as in Queensway, where carpark space is always at a premium. Someone should clamp this car.

This incosiderate driver thinks that just because he drives a car, he can deprive motorcyclists from parking on their designated lots. Perhaps he should ride a bicycle instead of driving.

Here's a Mazda driver who has parked out of lot, but is too lazy to right himself. Sloppy... just sloppy indeed. I wonder if he is like this in life.... plain sloppy.

White Estima who is unable to Estimate the proper parking space. Should get out of the car, and Estimate the bus number for his road travels, as he obviously cannot drive properly.

White Nissan Sunny whose bodywork is too fat to fit one lot... so thinks it's ok to park in 2 lots. This moron needs a lesson in parking.

I'm Back!!

Here I am again! Back in from the cold, out of the blue!

Did you miss me??? I hope so.... because I am back with a vengeance! Ha! Ha!

I had to go away, for some time since June ... for certain reasons, to remain unexplained. But here I am again.

I was hoping during my absence, the incidences of idiotic parking would have decreased, if not disappeared altogether... but, this was not to be. I still notice these parking idiots continuing to annoy the hell out of everybody else. Therefore, this blog site needs to be revived and to be continued!

I also noticed that this site got featured on The New Paper today (21 Aug 2006).

Also, there are spin-off parking idiot sites as well! Well done! You parking idiots out there are not going to get away! You can run... but you cannot hide, as Ronald once said.

I hope all the contributors to this site have not given up... please do continue your mission to capture on disk all the parking idiots out there, and we'll put them up for public ridicule, until they learn, the hard way, to be considerate road users.

My humblest apologies to all that have been wondering without word to what happened to me and this blog .... certain other priorities got in the way, but I hope I can continue blogging, henceforth, without much interruption. Please continue your support!

By the way - I have got a new email address: parkingidiot@gmail.com - please send all your contributions to this address from now on. The other one seems to have some limitations.
