This has been an exciting month! I started a blog out of frustration, put up some photos of fools parking, let it be known at a few online car-forums, and waited for response.
And, my god, I have been overwhelmed with the response. I feel vindicated! I am not alone - so many other people feel as I do - people who park inconsiderately should be taken to task!! And tremendous support from most of the readers! Of course, there are the odd one or two who disagree with it (I wonder if their cars had been featured!)
The media has picked up on the blog, with a famous blogger, Mr Miyagi, writing an article about it (article on Today paper 29 March 2006: "Vigilante justice, blogger-style" (http://www.todayonline.com/articles/109641.asp)). Thanks for the publicity Mr. Miyagi. Hope Johnny has zhnged your car nicely! Please park properly, ok? You don't want to be caught on camera!
I guess the signal is strong - if you park inconsiderately, beware! Almost everyone in Singapore owns a camera phone or a digicam. And it is the matter of seconds to whip it out and take a photo. If the photograper is annoyed enough, he or she will take the trouble to email that photo to me. Once I receive a photo, and if I concur that the photo indeed shows inconsiderate parking - instant fame for the idiot who parked inconsiderately! At the time of writing this post - there are 52 vehicles featured for their inconsiderate parking.
To borrow a line from Candid Camera: "Don't be surprised, if someone, someday, turns to you and says "Hey, isn't that your car shown on the Parking Idiots blog??" So my advice to all the drivers out there: "Please be considerate, and park properly. We should not need any more courtesy campaigns to teach drivers how to park."
Parking Idiots is Singapore's hottest blog, that showcases all those idiots who can't park properly and need to be publically shamed to learn a lesson.

Another pair who's cars apparently are too big for a normal parking lot. They should probably park in a bus bay. Contributor stuck a message on the windscreens: ""I AM A PARKING IDIOT!!! SEE MY PICTURE AT parkingidiots.blogspot.com"

Another sotong class idiot. His actions have have deprived another car from parking in the next lot. It can be seen by the Merc on the left that it is very possible to park within the lot comfortably, yet this Toyota driver thinks his car is bigger than a Merc.

This Subaru driver must be the owner of the pavement. He believes no one can walk on the pavement - all pedestrians must detour and walk on the road. What an idiot! And a danger to people, especially the kids and elderly! This kind of parking deserves some TP attention!

This one is really funny! They are not cars, but still parking idiots all the same. Ha! Ha! Here's some photo evidence for the authorities who put up the sign to take some action. Seems that it has been happening for over a year - the signpost is actually assisting the bikers to illegally park and lock their rides! I guess the inconvenienced people are not other drivers, but pedestrians and commuters.
Taken at Compass Point Taxi Stand at Sengkang East Way on 29 March 2006 at about 8:45am.

There's no question about this at all. This Honda's parking, whilst similar in concept to the parking of the car in the previous post, is way overdone. This one, sad to say, has to be classified an Idiot.
Taken at Golden Mile Complex Basement Carpark on 27 March 2006 at about 3:45pm. (Number plate masked by the contributor.)
034. Contributed by Vincent:
Now here's a question. Is this car too big for the parking lot? Or is the parking lot poorly designed? There's a pillar in the lot!! But is the design so bad that the pillar totally prevents a car from parking within the lot?
From the photo, my judgement is that there is enough space beside the pillar for the driver to still park within the lot. Even if not, why park beside the pillar at all? Why not park in the next empty lot and leave the pillar lot for a smaller car? Still boils down to poor and inconsiderate parking skills. What do you think?

This white van has parked out of his lot, forcing the Nissan Sunny to park closer to the tree. Fortunately there is a lot of space for the Sunny, thus no great inconvenience.
Taken at car park beside Jurong Bowl/Sheng Shiong on 28 March 2006 at about 1:50pm. (Number plates have been masked by the contributor).
Show the number!!!
I have received quite a number of feedback to display the car plate numbers, instead of masking them.
So, I consulted a legal professional and was advised that it was ok to display the car plate number. There is nothing illegal about doing so, and if the intention is not to defame any specific person, but just a picture of the vehicle - there is nothing objectionable about it, and no legal action can be taken.
Therefore, based on the above advice, I am stepping up the blogsite a notch by henceforth NOT masking the plate numbers of the cars, unless specifically requested by the contributor of the photo. I shall respect the contributor's privacy and wishes.
With respect to other feedback, I shall also be more selective about the photos being posted. The criteria is that the car should be at least partially out of a designated lot, and the car must be parked in a way to inconvenience or be a danger to other drivers. They may or may not be breaking any traffic laws, but their inconsiderate behaviour is what we wish to highlight.
Thus, someone who may not park centred in the lot, but still remains fully within the lot, or touching the line, we shall forgive and hope they do better the next time. (You can still stick a parking idiot label, though!). No one can be expected to be perfect, so we shall be more forgiving. But, true idiotic parking, like the Hyundai SUV in the previous post, we shall definately want to display here.
So after this long and rambling reply to feedback received, I hope that all the readers and contributors continue supporting this blogsite, and keep submitting the photos of parking idiots. We have garnerned many supporters in the short span of time this blogsite has been up, and I can only imagine that it shall get more exciting in future, now that we are going to display the number plates!!

This Malaysian car had ample space in a wide lot to park properly, but chose not to do so - preferred to park to one side. Fortunately, as the rest of the lots were very wide as well, not too inconvenient for the other cars. I guess most people would disregard this. Hope he would park better another time.

2 idiots screwing up a carpark lot for others. Pure selfishness and laziness. Couldn't these two morons in the Hyundai and the Merc van park properly? Now only Mr Bean can squeeze his car into the centre lot.

Two idiots! Look at these cars - why bother parking in a lot at all?? Might as well just leave the cars on the street - they are blocking traffic anyway! Doesn't it occur to these drivers the simple courtesy of moving their cars into the lots enough not to block the road? What morons!

This Merc cabbie thinks his car is too big for one lot, so he decided to encroach onto the next lot, and give the next driver a hard time. As you can guess from the photo - both the drivers are going to have a hard time entering their cars later; they are parked so close! Are all cabbies this way - we shouldn't generalise, should we?!

I wonder if this was the reason why this blog had not received any comments till now. If so, please do give your comments about these posts - as I believe not everyone feels the same way about each parking idiot shown.

This must be the most inconsiderate idiot in Singapore. Jams brakes in the middle of a busy street to gawk at some performance at Suntec City's Fountain of Wealth. Stops his car in the middle of the road and just leaves it there. This is the kind of moron that creates massive pile-ups and kilometres-long traffic jams on highways to gawk at accidents. Should have called the traffic cops and have him booked for obstructing traffic!

Two morons for the price of one. The Toyota Camry was an idiot to start with - parking like his father owns the carpark. Then the Honda Integra is an even bigger idiot to follow the Camry's antics, instead of parking properly in the next lot where there's sufficient space.
Who's the bigger fool - the fool or the fool that follows the fool?

This carpark was poorly designed to start off with. However, that still does not excuse idiotic behaviour. Yet, this post and the next show that idiot parking is prevalent in Bedok Central.
This VW thinks it is a huge assed car that needs to park into the lot behind as well.

Don't give others consideration. Only think of convenience for yourself. Be selfish and park like an idiot. These must be the mantras of this Nissan driver; parking on the edge and making it difficult for the next lot driver. Taken at Regent Hotel carpark on 23 March 2006 at about 4pm. He won a ParkingIdiot label, courtesy on Nitro, on his windscreen.

Was actually admiring this brand new Toyota Fortuner, when I realised it was parked on the line of its lot, even though there was lots of space on its left near the kerb. It forced the car to its right to park well away in a domino spillover effect.
See that woman approaching from the front right of the Fortuner? That's the driver. Dunno if she saw me taking the photo. She's a bad driver alright! As she was driving away, she drove the Fortuner over the kerb on the left! I shudder to think a car the size of a small tank in the hands of an idiot like this - dunno what other damage she'll do before she learns how to drive and park!
Taken at the open carpark, behind Zhenghua Market in Bukit Panjang on 24 March 2006 at about 10:30am.

Out of box parallel parking! What a dangerous idiot! On an extremely busy road as well, was forcing other vehicles to keep a distance. I took from the rear to show how he has jut out from the carpark, and a close-up to get the number plate.

Is it sooooo difficult to park properly? Or spent too much money buying the car, that can't afford the petrol to adjust to park within the lot?
Taken outside Arena Country Club opposite SAFTI MI on 22 March 2006, at about 12:30pm. Car was there at least an hour, and even though the carpark was full, it forced the next lot to remain empty due to this idiot's selfish action.

This Merc driver is way too much! It was observed that the car on the left had parked properly, but this idiot Merc driver had then arrived and parked like a moron. What a jerk! Taken at Clementi St 14 (Sunset Way) Carpark on 13 March 2006 at 6:09pm. And it's a male driver, and Aaron had posted a note on his windscreen to check for his photo on this blog! Good on ya, Aaron!

Parked at Blk 553 Bedok North open carpark - 20 March 2006 about 6:50pm. This kind of idiot driver we normally forgive, 'cos he is still within his lot - but just squeezing the next lot enough to make the next driver squirm. Why can't this Mazda 626 driver just park neatly, or more to his right? Laziness?? Poor parking skills? Reader intolerence? You be the judge. Give us your comments.
Parking Idiot Label
There have been a number of requests for labels to place on cars that have been parked idiotically.
We aim to please, so here is a label you can copy and print a few to keep in your car, and to place on a parking idiot's car when you see one. Remember to take a picture!
Thanks for all the support and contributions everyone! Keep 'em coming!

Omigod!! This must be the picture of the week! So rich people don't need to park properly?? Calling all Beemer drivers, this is a negative demonstration of vertical parking. This idiot should be banned from driving all classes of vehicles until he passes circuit training again.

This one at Burlington Square on 12 March evening. This one not as bad as some of the rest - but still goes to show the driver's laziness in not parking within the lot, and causing inconvenience to others. In fact, Russell, who parked next to him decided to give him lots of space - I don't wonder - I would give idiots like this a wide berth, too!!

Should we show the numbers?
News about this blog has been mentioned at various online car forums in Singapore. Some forums have sparked of debates about whether this blog serves a purpose without listing the car plate numbers. Even though the picture is there, without the number, the car is virtually anonymous.
The intention of blocking the numbers was to prevent any possible litigation, but some argue not to worry as the photos are clear enough of the action. Without direct shaming, the culprits will hide behind their anonymity and continue their idiotic parking. What do you think? Should the numbers be displayed? Or at least partially covered, to give the idiot some benefit to correct his action without getting fully shamed? Please give your opinion.
There was also a nice quote from Golden Feather of the BMW SG forum: "If you can't park, don't drive"
There were other calls from various forums to show other inconsiderate driving behaviour, and not just limit it to idiotic parking. I think for now, let's see if we can do the idiotic parking coverage well.
I am heartened at the large number of encouragements for starting the blog, as well as the contributions received so far. I hope people continue to send in their contributions and prove the usefulness of this blog once the number of parking idiots reduce in number. We can make a difference.

If you have experienced such inconsiderate parking, I encourage you to send me your photos to be published and, hopefully, wake these jerks up to practise better parking. Imagine, if they park like this, how much worse they could be at driving! We'd be doing everyone a favor by warning them about such morons!
All photos published can be credited to the originator (whether by real name or nick), and license plates shall be masked. Email the photos to parkingidiot@cooltoad.com or, send me the link if the photo is hosted somewhere. Please include details like when and where the photo was taken.
I think we should also place a print a card and place on the idiot's windscreen with words to this effect:
"Parking Idiot!! Captured on Camera! Visit parkingidiots.blogspot.com to view your picture online!"
