This entry has been removed - as new information indicates the vehicle was there on official business and was not being an idiot.

My advice to the contributors - please assess the situation before taking photos as we should not cause embarrasment to drivers with valid reasons.

Maybe the officers have urgent case to attend?

Anonymous said...

Can police flout parking rule esp parking in a disabled car lot? they sure reply got urgent case to attend and anyhow park ...

Anonymous said...

if urgent, no need to park so nice.. just leave the car on the road la!

Anonymous said...

From the picture, it seems like the right signal light was turned on.

Anonymous said...

Sure would like to hear the official explanation on this.

Anonymous said...

Wah!... Can this be shown to TP and let them do an official reply on this? This is serious...

Anonymous said...

so..signal light on means can anyhow park..... if parking auntie come:"Chope! Chope! cannot summon - I got my signal light on! Ha! ha!"

Anonymous said...

I wonder whether are they allowed to park illegally or not. Have seen these vehicles parked by the road or at double yellow line and "performing" zig zag driving. My fren did call up and check whether around that area have any "urgent" case or not for reckless Police Car driver, but they told her that there isn't any "urgent" case reported when she saw the zig zag and rushing PC. So....????

Anonymous said...

Doubt very much if police operators would divulge to a caller if there are any "urgent" case or not.

Anonymous said...

i think for the police they are allowed to park in any place as long as they dun obstruct the flow of traffic ...

The traffic wardens have designated areas to look after. They can't go outside the areas of responsibility. In Mar 06, I came across a motocycle parking on pavement and there was this traffic warden came, but he told me I have to call TP for that. Even for pavement, do you know that there is "private" and "public" pavement ? TP can only summon those on "public" pavement.

Hmm.. I've seen them parked on DOUBLE ZIG ZAG lines before with hazard lights on.. usually if they're not THAT in a rush they'll put up a sign on the windscreen which states "Police attending to emergency".

Sometimes I really doubt that they even rush though. My friends and I once called the police regarding a little toddler running around the top deck of a MSCP - ALONE. He kept looking like he wanted to jump off the side of the top carpark level and ran away whenever we came close. The police took 15 mins to arrive - 1 female 1 male. They came right up to us as the boy ran past the PC. We pointed at the boy and they acknowledged but guess what?

The female officer did not get out of her passenger seat to handle the situation first while the male officer can slowly park (or for goodness sake, the top deck is empty just get out!)

Instead, the 2 of them continued to sit nicely in their air conditioned vehicle as they slowly went to the 2nd highest deck to slowly reverse park the vehicle into a proper lot.

Oh and take note that the boy ran down deck by deck (we blocked him from the lift).

Thereafter - the hide and seek began after they've parked the PC nicely and gotten out and oh so importantly locked the car.

Utterly ridiculous. 2 officers and 5 teenagers running up and down the MSCP looking for a boy whom they could have just stopped and handled if they had just GOTTEN OUT OF THE D**N PC earlier. Sheesh. They then took down my particulars, drove out slowly as they "looked out" for the boy and left when they couldn't find him.

They could not just leave cause they SAW the boy and acknowledged us when we pointed to the boy. Sigh. The greatness of singapore police.

Parking in a handicap lot certainly does look good, esp for a police car, but have u ever consider this, they are attending to a case, be it urgent ornot, but in a fully packed carpark, where nobody is going to give up a lot to them, and if they parked other than the lot itself, some smart aleck going to complain again... So is there going to be a law stating that ppl who call for police must wait at open area instead of some buildings? My view is think before u shoot.... the police got their difficulties too..

Anonymous said...

Perhaps, since you guys have much disregard towards the operations and procedures undertaken by the police, as well as how we handle public calls, you guys can write to ASP Audrey Ang, the police Spokesperson. Do it through the Straits Times Forum or you can contact the Police Cantonment Complex.

Not much would be gained by voicing out your displeasure here. As for the case for the dude who faced the " ineffectiveness" of the Male and Female Officers responding to your call, perhaps criticising the Police isn't the way to go, by mentioning " The greatness of Singapore Police ." If you are the person who would want to uphold the Singapore Standard, as a loyal citizen, pursue the matter, make it aware to the police that these incidents happened. Being a police officer also has limitations, we can't be playing Superman or Catwoman all the time, saving Everyone from trouble. So dude, if you really have the displeasure with that incident, would appreciate if you can pursue it. Cause im sure you saw the responding unit's area, for example "Bukit batok" or " pasir ris" on the police squad car. No offence bro, its easy to complain, but to ensure that action is taken towards ur complaint is a totally different matter.

Hope everyone understands the situation The Singapore Police is facing every single day. As for this picture, I'm sure there is a reason for the officer to park in this manner, so I would agree that we shouldnt improvise and criticise this parking, as we don't know the facts.

Thanks and regards everyone, and thanks to parking idiot for putting up this blog to shame the drivers who don't value their driving licenses enough. =)

This one real or bluff???

It seems that there's always a reason or excuse whenever a 'QX' car is involved. Come on, what about the other 400+ other civilian vehicles that appear on this crap website, who also may have valid reasons to stop/park/wait/stall their cars for a short time?

Anonymous said...

One day someone's gonna beat the crap outta you, you dial 999 and police will turn up 30 mins late because driver couldn't find a "proper lot" to park in because new guidelines stipulates that when officers attend to cases they have to ensure they park in a white lot and display parking coupon due to some idiot making things difficult for them by contributing such nonsense.

ya the case in the photo is quite small - no big deal (except the perfectly centred-in-lot parking skill assumingly fast too if it was an emergency)

but the MSCP case a bit the passenger-officer's fault. dont need 2 officers to park 1 car.

Anonymous said...

my comment on the MSCP case: from the description, it is just a case of playful child running around. The informant may think the child could fall over. However, it could also be the child is causing noise / nuisance and that is why police was called.

I note that the writer wrote "the top deck" and not the "roof top". The child apparently ran past the police officers thus there was no reason to believe that the child at that particular time was in great immediate danger.

Here, we do not have the other side of the story, i.e., the account and assessment of the situation by the officers.

By just a child running in a MSCP, not apparently commiting any offense, the question is what police action can be taken ?

If it was late night, perhaps the police could advise the child to go back home. But apparently it was not night but day.

I therefore do not see why the police officers should be expected (in the case of the writer) act like going to apprehend a criminal/suspect.

The subsequent action described by the writer make sense. The officers seemed to be convinced that it was a non-urgent case and parked the vehicle properly (like most of the people here expected) and took down the facts of case including the informant's particulars, etc.

The only one thing the police officer may need to improve on is to assess the informant's expectation. Had the officer noticed that the informant wanted to see the officer to be more pro-active, and get out the car, there won't be this story posted here.

Case close.

Thanks for all the comments. I learned a new thing as well, regarding certain derogatory terms - OK, all the comments referring to the phrase removed.

As for the police car, no disrespect to the police. But, I fail to see that in an urgent situation, the police would still have the time to navigate to the Capitol Carpark, press a button to lift the barrier, enter the carpark, find a parking space (be it the disabled parking space) park the car nicely, and then attend the emergency. Does not compute.

If urgent, I'd just park along the street at the entrance of Capitol carpark - lots of cars are parked there anyway - and then rush to the emergency. So, whilst still respecting the police, I do not think the current situation is one of urgency. And if not urgent, the police should have obeyed the rules and parked at a proper lot.

I think this post shall remain.

you people too free..eat full nothing to do..park by the side of the road people will complain obstraction of traffic..park in disabled lot you people take photo..late for attending cases you people complain police take their sweet time to attend cases..police also human..please think..

" Has our SPF decided to recruit disabled policemen? " what does the contributor meant by this ? is he discriminating disabled people? is he making fun of the "disabled" tag? please keep such comments to yourself and THINK before you post any comments. Though it may be a disabled parking sapce but surely the comments such as "recruit disabled policemen" is not at all graceful.

Anonymous said...

It seems that if you drive a 'QX' plate, you are way above the law, including parking offences. It is always ASSUMED that if a 'QX' car were parked there, it's always attending something urgent. If a civilian car, rushed to park in a lot, and got 1/3 of the car out of alignment in a lot, the picture of the car will be taken, and posted to this website, open for criticism from the general public, even though the driver could have a really reasonable reason like "he/she needs to pee??"

Anonymous said...

Police can employ handicap people what...at least they can answer 999 calls...or the police hotline 1800-2550000; or to do the administrative work of sending out traffic tickets to those dunno how to park properly....so many thing they can do.

Anonymous said...

"parking wardens will not fine police cars, as they are exempted from parking fines. somone tell me I'm wrong on this" - I was once told that in Bishan HDB carpark, police went there to have lunch (its ok to do so as they have their designated lunch time too) got ticket for not displaying coupon.

Anonymous said...

"I'm sure if an actual handicap person comes and sees the lot occupied by the police car, they would understand too." - Why should a handicapped person understand this action by the police? The red lots are meant for them in the first place. Maybe we should ask an official spokesperson from the "relevant authorities" to address this matter.

Anonymous said...

dude the handicap fellow has probably more compassion and understanding then you. the officers are protecting the law, and in the midst of it if a handicap fellow goes about complaining that his reserved lot is taken up by a police car, its quite ironic. think before u shoot bro. =)

regarding the MSCP case

It was not day. The time was nearing 12 midnight.

2ndly, the boy looked younger than 6 !

3rdly, by the "top deck" i mean the very very top floor whereby there are parking lots but if you tilt your head up and look it's all STARS AND THE MOON. there's no shelter so what roof are you looking for?

lastly, the boy was climbing over the edge of the short walls on the sides of the deck. if he went over the walls - it's straight drop down to level 1.

now tell me it isn't a serious case?

Anonymous said...

With what you just wrote, I agree that the police should have done more. I recall on May 29, 2006 something happened at Blk 65 Marine Parade as well. We saw police vehicles, SCDF fire engines and ambulances came, they were all shining lights upward the block, looking for some one...as if someone was committing suicide, but there was no air-cushion laid out. They sent groups of officers comb floor by floor down....

When and where was that case that you described ? Did you brought up/feedback to police management then ?

Anonymous said...

Go sign on police la and be in the situation when you need to rush and park before you get complaints for being late. Park road or handicap lot kena screw here. If park season lot no season parking how? Also kena from you people right? They don't go into MCSP and park if no reason right? Normally i see them patrol every levels on their vehicles.

I believe enough opinions and views, as well as criticisms and praises have been sung. Its time everyone cool it off and lets get back to do what we do best. Let police officers go about their daily patrol routines, and civilians about their daily vigilante help assistance.

Take it easy, if this matter really needs to be pursued then I suggest you contact cantonment complex. Or you can write to the straits times, the media people would be more than glad to publish your complaint and you are entitled to a valid explanation.

No one benefits much by voicing out their critisicms here.

Why does it matter so much if I am a real Police officer or not? What ever I have said does not pertain the very fact whether I am a real police officer. All that I have stated are true facts and procedures. So whether I am a real police officer or not, it doesn't really matter.

And to the person who suggested that I procieve this complanint to Cantonment Complex, I can't do it. This is because of the very simple fact that you fail to understand that the person who wants to complain about this and is unhappy with this type of police parking should be the one lodging the complaint. So unless I get to know the real identity of the person who wants to complaint, how can i bring this up?

No Offence Bro, but its a very simple basis you fail to understand.

Anonymous said...

No person would want to come onto a world wide web page and reveal his or her personal details, which includes his or her job details. It's a very simple and basic precaution that everyone takes when surfing, don't you agree?

So take it easy everyone, and if the complaint needs to be pursued, then let it be, let us carry on with our daily routines.

cheers everyone.

Hi Subutex,

Everybody is just making a living. Imagine if you need help, and the police officer couldn't come in time to help you. Will you accept the reason being he need to park his car properly?

Sometimes in life, giving comments is easy, but you never put urself in other people's shoes.

We have been following this blog. We really can't stand the way you comment things. To first put yourself in someone's shoes, I guess you have to take off yours first.

You certainly need to take some humble pie. I understand that perhaps you are born unlucky. Everyday, and wherever you go, you meet inconsiderate people.

BUT That doesn't mean everybody is like that.

We are from a Ravers Clubs. We will like to arrange a meet-up with you. Perhaps we can come to a consensus on how you can control the comments you write on the net.

We can be reached at clubravers@gmail.com

We look forward to your prompt reply.

Hello Ravers Club. saw the comment written on Subutex. who are Ravers Club? why are u angered with subutex?
Subutex did not use insulting words in this police car case blog. In 6.05pm, he actually said to others to "Cool Off" and agrees what the "Police Officer" said.
In 1.13 pm, he said that police should just park in fornt of other cars in urgent case and Its Perfectly Okay..".
he used rough words on the blog 411, which he admitted, but that is because the BM driver is arrogant. the BM driver deserved the words.
so leave subutex alone. sometimes rough words teaches the PI.

I fail to see the basis for the use of Singlish, this simply shows your inability to portray your feelings and opinions in a clear and precise manner. Using singlish is a dumb excuse for a portrayal of your own opinions and lack of time to say things out properly.

Think before you shoot.

and for the person who thinks i should be sent back to PA, well, can you provide your accusations with prove? When have I ever said that anyone is above the law in my comments? Please, it's easy to make accusations, but to prove them is a totally different thing.

Then again, think before you shoot.

Cool down everyone, i would stand by my advice that if this matter should be pursued, bring it up in the various mediums. Let's not drift away from the very simple fact that this blog is used to portray " parking idiots", not as a focal point for various arguments among ourselves.

Against parking idiots, We are all as ONE. Please don't break this unity.

got response from the police - now they know whoi i am... hehe..

the police was responding to a vehicle theft incident at the said car park, and there was no other available car park lot at that level.

they had the carpark attendant on on hand to let them know if a handicap driver needed the lot. they also would not be obstructing anyone by parking there.

just want to clarify here.

by the way, parking warden, what is the point of posting the log card information apart from telling everyone you have access?

Anonymous said...

if attending to veh theft i believed it's justified to park there. it's a private carpark and i believe there's parking attendant on hand to inform the officer to remove the vehicle if there's a need. If u are a car owner i believe u dont want the officer to take their own sweet time to find a lot before attending to such a case.

if police is responding to a theft call, that's okay, as they even informed the parking attendant to call them (by Hp maybe).
but why bother to do this?
police car can just park ourside the caoitol carpark, along double yellow lines . its quicker than to find car park lot, but no lot avail.
based on Parking Warden car info the Insp due date is "year 200". Vehicle inspection centre have not started yet at that time.

This is a really sad case with Singapore bloggers. Once, there's a post that "the REAL police is investigating", all the nasty and sarcastic comments just "vanish" into thin air. In fact, more comments on commending the police for taking an appropriate action are appearing. Damn sad.

Vi said...

actually.. the nick "parking warden" might or might not be a real parking warden but whatever the case - the information on every license plate on this blog that he/she dishes out is not "strictly confidential" information.

He/she simply enters the plate numbers into the vehicle transfer fee information service provided by the LTA through onemotoring.com.sg

The function is here:
https://vrl.lta.gov.sg/lta/vrl/action/pubfunc?ID=EnquireTransferFee

Enter any vehicle plate number together with any date in the near future and the information which "parking warden" puts up will be shown.

For his/her post for this photo, the correct Inspection Due Date should be 06 Feb 2008. Not 06 Feb 200. He/she pasted the information without checking that the at the back of the year was perhaps cut off due to some word limit or something?

and so no, i don't think he/she is trying to flaunt that he/she has access to the information because the information is in the public domain.

However, in publishing all the vehicle plate information, "parking warden" is violating the terms and conditions which he/she has agreed and is bound by when he/she clicked on "submit" after entering the vehicle number.

Clause 8 states "You declare and certify that you are the registered owner of the vehicle which is the subject of this query or, if you are not, that you have been authorised by the registered owner to submit this query on his behalf and to be bound by these Terms and Conditions."

and clause 9 "By clicking on the “I Agree” icon, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions, and agree to abide by them."

and so to "parking warden" - i suggest you exercise caution.

eh.. you talk so big... must one of those who anyhow park!

PI, sent the reply to your gmail already. sorry for the delay.

Because of the disclaimer at the bottom of the email from SPF, I did not want to cut and paste the whole email here. I trust you understand.

By the way, just to respond to some comments here, the police parked there because it is the least obstructive place. Otherwise, stop along the narrow lanes aorund the capitol carpark will also cause more inconvenience to other innocent motorists.

disclaimer - i am not related to the SPF or work for them, i just emailed their general feedback email on the SPF website for explanation.

Thanks, Parkwell.

OK, since the police have decided to share their thoughts on this issue, I shall give the benefit of the doubt and remove the photo and post.

Also, I would like to advise all contributors to assess the situation before taking photos and submitting.
We only want to get the real parking idiots.

Peace!

Wahliew..

This thread reminds me of all those tiny pricks who are so deprived that they have no choice but to DIY. Cannot make it in real life, but no choice can only put forth their manhood in cyberspace.

Phew!

Come to think of it -> Can a ORDINARY citizen driving an ORDINARY car, claiming that he is on official duty, and parks his car in a handicap lot because it causes the least obstruction? I wonder how would the general public react, especially even stupid trigger-happy contributors to this shitty website?

To parking idiot, how do you determine it's a real case that warrants a driver to be shamed on this website or are you just biased against the authorites, afraid that they will clam down your preposterous website.

If the owner of the car featured here would write in to PI and explain what and why he/she had parked the vehicle in that manner, then I guess PI could probably take the photo down to avoid further unnecessary embarassment or post the reason.

I applaud PI for creating the avenue to highlight incidences of irresponsible, inconsiderate and selfish parking behavior. We learn from the bad as well as the good.

However, i must say that many of the obscenities, liberal use of language here contributed more to the adverserial and testy atmosphere than what it should be. But that's a right... no one can restrict how to use your education and vocabulary.

Take it in the right spirit, condemn the act of bad parking, and maybe the driver... leave the rest of the family and clan out.

Rude and uncalled-for remarks only reflect the immaturity of the speaker more than anything else. It's your choice.

ya subutex... get it?

Parkwell, you should run for president, since you only how to come out with political correct answers. Remember, the police are watching this post.

Citizens living in this country have their own rights. Why should we report to PI the way or reason we park? Do I have to report what I eat for lunch or how many marks my kids get for their exams?

Just a reminder to all you people. It's a case of the ugly Singaporean.

Since the comments to this post have not ceased, let me verify what Parkwell has said.

If anyone with sufficient evidence can respond that a vehicle in a featured photo has validity to park like thus, I would review and remove the photo if necessary.

This is not limited to the authorities. I have previously removed photos, and also refrained from putting up photos of such incidents, where the vehicle owner has responded before I posted the photo (these owners have been informed by the PI flyers placed on their vehicles).

Again - I would like to take this opportunity to remind one and all to be observant and note that the said vehicles are actually parking idiotically, or causing obstruction or being hazardous to other road users, before taking the photo and submitting.

In the process of taking such photos, or placing any PI flyer on the car - please do not vandalise or damage the car or any other property (no matter how infuriated you are), as you may be answerable to legal action by the property or vehicle owners.

Peace!

if you are not real police and try to impose as one. This is an offend.

if you are the real one I am sure your top brass will understand that pc who and whyt park at handicapp lot.

BTW believed there is a police reserved lot next to it. Likely is that the lot is used up by another private car or another police car.

that private car who take your lot will get 400 fine in return.

Infact that chap who took the picture should measure the situation. Observer what is that officer doing then decided to post.

if case just delete the snap off. if buying coffee or chay kway tiao then do consider to snap.

end of the day to fine or not to fine is the URA /HDB to made the decidsion not us.
